First, I’d like to say that the webpage has been updated, new members added, two members removed (Harry & Mel), mileage page up to date, pictures from the Polar Bear ride, and 2007 pages started to be created. Probably some other little things. Take a look sometime. For the new members, this end of year report is something I’ve done the past two years when I was 1st Officer and now I’ll carry it on as the webmaster/historian. Unfortunately, we had some members leave and/or transfer this year with some pretty significant mileage. During their time with us they accumulated another 9,614 with another 3,163 coming from co-pilots. So, our final totals for the year are: - Over 43,717 miles put on member’s bikes - Over 47,316 miles put on member’s butts (includes co-pilots) Dubee takes the title for member with the most recorded miles this year at 4,949 miles, but since he’s now the 2nd Officer he doesn’t really get to gloat about it. The regular member with the most miles ridden in a pilot seat would come down to Wayne Carty with 3,665 miles. 2nd Place would go to Flag with 2,901 miles. (Our 1st Lady - Carol Hauptman had 3619 miles as a passenger). - Wayne was also the high-miler last year with 6,187 recorded chapter miles I have a feeling next year it’ll take a lot bigger numbers to take the title so everyone better get to as many rides as they can. The mileage thing isn’t really a competition…it just for fun. What’s most important is that in 2006 there were no accidents that took place on Sumter chapter rides (that I know of). I would like to take a moment to put on my State Officer hat and thank Bruce (and Carol) for stepping up to the plate and taking on the leadership of the Sumter chapter. When the transition was made back in April I had no idea that I was going to have to go away for four months, but it has worked out great. Bruce has done a great job with the chapter. I would also like to thank Mike Worley again (I’ll make sure he sees this) for the time he spent as 2nd Officer. By the way, it should be mentioned that he had 4,128 recorded miles last year before he transferred to Mississippi (Michelle had 2,208). Of course, thanks to Dubee for taking on his new role. He’s already doing a great job. This year the Sumter Chapter not only rode, but we gave back. Between Flag’s BBQ and Roy’s “Fall Fest” the chapter raised about $500 that went directly to St. Judes. Not to mention miscellaneous fundraisers we participated in as well as the pivotal role we played in helping Bruce with his Angel Tree Project. I was very proud to be associated with it all. We had a good turnout for our only multi-day/overnight trip last year. We had 12 members on seven bikes attend the Savannah Invasion back in February. I’m pretty sure I’ll be heading down again this year – 23 to 25 February. I’ll be sending out more information next week, but it can be found now on the Delphi Forums (linked from our webpage). Hopefully there will be more trips this year. I also attended the NC Spring Rally in Asheboro last April as the sole member from South Carolina. Hopefully, there will be more people from SC if I go back this year. More to come on that as well. I’ll leave it at that. All the rides I could keep track of our listed on our webpage as well as the full mileage report. It’s my pleasure knowing and riding with all of you and I look forward to another great year ahead.
